Staying organized can sometimes feel impossible, especially when you’re facing piles of stuff, a packed schedule, and an endless stream of thoughts about it all. The process requires physical effort along with a mental shift to break through procrastination, indecision, and overwhelm. So, what can you do to help yourself? Use affirmations! These simple sentences are powerful tools to support your journey. It’s easy to fast track your results and stay organized with affirmations at your side.
Affirmations are positive statements that help reframe your mindset and align your focus to create change in your space, schedule, and thoughts. By incorporating affirmations into your daily organizing routine, you can encourage a sense of calm, purpose, and motivation.
Why Use Affirmations When Organizing?
They Build Confidence
Decluttering can trigger self-doubt. Sometimes, a lot of self-doubt. Questions swirl around your mind clouding your judgement. For example, you’ll ask yourself, “What if I need this later?”. Similarly, negative thoughts may intrude on your progress. For instance, you may think, “You waste a lot of money buying things only to donate them”. This can bring your progress to a crashing halt. No one wants to second guess themselves and feel badly the entire time they are working towards a goal. Affirmations remind you of your ability to make positive choices. Turn off the tap of unhelpful remarks from your inner voice and stay organized with affirmations about.

They Reduce Overwhelm
Positive statements help ground you in the present moment, making it easier to tackle one task at a time. Pairing a timer along with affirmations to stay organized gives you an increased chance of making strong progress. The timer cues your brain that you only need to stay focused for a short amount of time and the affirmations give your brain something to focus on directly. For example, begin an organizing session to declutter paperwork by setting a 20 minute timer and saying to yourself, “It’s easy for me to find the papers I no longer need and recycle them.” This cues your brain to be on the lookout for paper which has no purpose, ditch it, and move on. It seems so simple when put into those terms and our brains like things that are straightforward.
They Create Focus
Affirmations align your intentions, helping you stay motivated and committed to your organizing goals. “I quickly release clothes which no longer fit me well.” That’s a bold statement telling your brain it’s not time to relive every fun time you had in your pre-pregnancy jeans. Instead, it’s time to thank those jeans for their service and embrace your new (and amazing!) figure as a fabulous mom. You can always work towards becoming a smaller size again if you desire. Plus, when you lose the baby weight, you’ll want to reward yourself… with new clothes. Your tired, out of style, denim is not going to give you the same high vibes as a sweet pair of on-trend jeans.
They Reinforce Habits
Repeating affirmations strengthens your belief in the habits you’re building, making organization a natural part of your life. Habits allow our brains to go on autopilot and give us the sensation of things happening without a lot of effort. Wouldn’t it be fabulous if being organized just became part of who you are intrinsically? Think that’s not possible? Think again. Being organized is a skill anyone can learn. Yes, anyone… including you! The more you learn about it, the easier it becomes. Affirmations are a boost to get your neurons working together faster. As an added bonus, affirmations sustain the habits we create over time. It’s painless to stay organized with affirmations.
How To Use Affirmations
The best part is that affirmations are so easy to use. You can say them out loud or silently to yourself all day long. In addition, you can post them where you will read them often. Another way to reap the benefits of affirmations is to write them in a journal or make them the wallpaper on your phone. Therefore, there’s no excuse not to use them to get ahead.
Members of the O2E Savvy Squad receive affirmations a few days a week to help them declutter and organize every facet of their life. Get your copy of our fun, printable affirmation cards in The O2E Oasis, (our resource library full of free goodies and fun challenges to jump start your progress). Then, cut out the sayings you feel most connected with and post them wherever you believe they’ll give you a boost. Most of my clients stick them on the bathroom mirror to read in the morning while getting ready to face the day. Others paste them in their journals or put one on the back of their phone. There’s no right or wrong way to use these cards. Experiment with them and do what works best for you.
Conclusion
Decluttering isn’t just about removing physical items; it’s about creating a life of intention, clarity, and joy. Affirmations can be a powerful ally in this journey, helping you overcome mental blocks and stay motivated. By embracing these positive statements, you can cultivate the mindset needed to not only gently declutter but also sustain an organized and harmonious life.
